Kolo Design birdhouses are crafted from high-quality Finnish birch plywood. Thanks to the moisture-resistant plywood and ventilated base, our birdhouses withstand harsh conditions year after year, providing a cozy home for birds across generations. Specifically designed for great tits, pied flycatchers, and red-breasted nuthatches, we also offer custom-sized birdhouses upon request, such as for ducks.
Assembly and hanging of the birdhouse
Assembling a Kolo Design birdhouse is convenient and tool-free. Follow the instructions included in the package or watch our assembly video to enjoy the process without complicated steps. Birdhouse assembly is a delightful activity for anyone, making it an excellent family-friendly endeavor!
The package includes a fastening cord for securely attaching the birdhouse to a tree. Optimal hanging height is approximately 1.5 – 2 meters from the ground. Avoid hanging the nest box in an open area facing south to prevent overheating in direct sunlight. While birdhouses can be hung in various locations, always seek the landowner's permission. As natural nesting spots in forests diminish, each new birdhouse becomes a genuine ecological contribution! They should be placed in different types of forests, with a particular need in intensively managed commercial forests.

An easily detachable roof, without the need for tools, facilitates the birdhouse's autumn maintenance. It's crucial to empty the nest box annually and check the stability of the hanging. Also, inspect the overall condition, especially the durability of the base and roof. Regular cleaning and maintenance contribute to the birdhouse's longevity. Avoid opening the birdhouse during spring and summer to prevent disturbing nesting birds and their chicks.
